Real World Experience

Denise

Meet Torin, CEL Web Intern!

Major: Media & Journalism

“As an incoming Celebrity Cruises Web User Experience Intern, my goal was to design one thing that actually ended up on the website, but I’ve been able to do so much more. In fact, I had the incredibly unique opportunity to brainstorm several new ideas that are now live on the website. That being said, I think the most impactful part of the internship was building relationships with my mentors and co-workers and feeling like I was becoming part of the team. From cleaning reefs off the coast of Miami with co-workers to having 1-on-1’s with my mentors, this summer has been an incredible opportunity to network and grow both as a person and a professional. I am incredibly thankful that I had this opportunity and I am extraordinarily proud of the work that my team and I were able to accomplish this summer.”

Meet John, IT Operations & Technology Intern!

Major: Information Management major

“As an IT Shipboard Project Management intern, I was responsible for interfacing with the project management team during the planning phase of the MyTV Program installation for Voyager of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas. Upon completion, each stateroom will be equipped with a Smart TV that offers guests the ability to stream movies on-demand and view information such as room service menus or onboard expense details, in addition to providing guests with the capability to stream or mirror content from their personal device to the stateroom TV. My responsibilities afforded me the once in a lifetime opportunity to travel abroad to both Singapore and Barcelona to perform site surveys onboard the ships before they enter dry-dock in Fall 2019. During my time working on the ship, I was exposed to the incredible amount of effort it takes behind the scenes to provide a memorable vacation experience for our guests. I am extremely grateful for the invaluable experience I obtained during my time as a Royal Caribbean intern and for all of the outstanding employees that assisted me along the way!”

Rainer

Meet Neha, Digital Intern!

Major: MBA candidate

“As a digital intern, I worked in the Digital Commerce Experience team. I came in when the entire commerce experience was being over hauled for a better and smoother platform. One of my responsibilities was designing and assisting with the development of the booking tool to be used by hundreds of our call center agents. It involved understanding the agents pain points and frustrations and solving to make their life easier and the guests’ shopping experience superior. I was also tasked with assisting the Change Management team to help make this transition smooth and frictionless for our agents without disrupting the everyday flow of their lives. To deliver a high-quality experience to users in an industry with such unique nuances has been a rewarding experience.”

Amanda

Meet Solana, RCI Treasury Intern!

Major: Finance

“As the Treasury Intern, I worked within Capital Markets, Derivatives and Treasury Operations on multiple projects. My main project was to create a Capital Markets Dashboard on Microsoft Power BI, where I was responsible to learn my way around a software language that was completely foreign to me. This project challenged me to understand Royal’s key performance metrics as well as dissect excel formulas within extensive models. I had the opportunity to listen in on the second quarter earnings call, a pivot point in my internship, where I became conscious of the improvement in my financial acumen and knowledge about the cruise industry. This invaluable experience introduced me to so many inspiring people who confirmed my passion for corporate finance.”
