Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD seeks to recruit the Vice President, Architectural Design, reporting directly to the Senior Vice President of Architectural Design while working closely with EVP, Maritime, the Brand Presidents and the Chairman, given the importance of this role to the success of the organization. The VP, Architectural Design will partner closely with the SVP, Architectural Design leading the design process of vessel design of the current Silversea and TUI fleet as well as corporate responsibilities.
The VP, Architectural Design provides a primary leadership role and expertise to the new building projects as assigned by the SVP, Architectural Design.  In so doing, the incumbent continually directs the activities of architects, designers, and computer aided design professionals to achieve brand specific design concept goals for the various brands.  Also serves as a conduit of information and intelligence from the corporation and/or the brand to the design staff, and external partners to ensure seamless and on-time delivery of multi-billion, multi-year projects. 
The VP, Architectural Design will push industry boundaries to deliver creative and innovative first-ever class experiences for the company's guests. S/he will promote, enhance and protect the organization's brand reputation, culture and values. S/he is responsible for developing internal and external capabilities, relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership. S/he is the ultimate champion and guardian of the 'look and feel' of TUI and Silversea's brand equities. 

  • Creative enabler of Design Leadership which translate into directing, developing and maintaining the entire overall design process for all assigned projects, forming and maintaining brand specific design concepts.  Ensures that brand concepts are apparent and credible and fulfill the voice of the Corporation and each Brand, which continues our culture of design innovation. 
  • Leads disciplined designs process and demonstrate that s/he can build and improve upon existing capabilities, process and culture. The VP, Architectural Design will have to adapt to new, evolving needs while respecting what has been accomplished in the past and how RCCL has gone about expanding its fleet.
  • Build relationships with Brand Presidents, including EVP, Maritime, the President of the Silversea and TUI brands, as well as building a strong strategy and partnerships with back of house design and with external design and architecture firms, shipyards and other related vendors, and partner to create and execute a long term strategic vision across the organization. 
  • Analyze and compare statistics, metrics, and customer insights across RCCL Fleet and competitive landscape to bring forward observations and forward-thinking recommendations. 
  • Ready to go business leadership on day one which translates into attracting, retaining and developing a diverse talent pool of architects, designers and consultants and monitor quality and suitability of work through constant feedback and goalsetting. 
  • Short term focus on learning the business and fully integrating into the team and the ongoing projects. Partner closely with SVP, Architectural Design for integrated mentorship to ensure a seamless integration into the company


Job Requirements


  • Minimum 19 years of experience in the architecture/design with an emphasis creating
  • Proven track record of developing and executing large scale projects in hospitality and mixed-use.
  • 8 plus years of multi-unit international management experience in the architecture and design space
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university preferred in design or architecture
  • Previous or cruise line experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.
