Job Description

Position Summary:

Proactively plans, coordinates and drives activities of new projects as assigned, installations and ongoing upgrades, enhancements to existing systems, to ensure they are accomplished within prescribed time frame and budget.  Coordinates activities with shipboard installation teams to ensure project progresses on schedule, accurately reflects current project status through regular updates of tasks and statuses. Communicate project plan status to shoreside team/ executive leadership on a regular basis. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Manages the technical projects as assigned.
  2. Establish budgets, work plans, procedures, responsibilities, goals, scope, outline milestones and tracking routines for completing the projects.
  3. Advises Ship Managers as well as the vessel management teams about the project status.
  4. Manage assigned projects and related riding teams. 
  5. Run test programs on new equipment in conjunction with ship personnel as directed.
  6. Coordinates activities to ensure project progresses on schedule, accurately reflects current project status through regular updates of tasks and statuses.
  7. Establishes, monitors and updates the Manager AWP & Technical Systems, as well as the Finance team of changes, additions or reductions to CAR projects assigned to the installation or technical projects onboard specific vessels.
  8. Proactively interface with representatives of different departments within the company, for the purpose of project status and monitoring progress.
  9. Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel, modify schedules or plans as required. Serves as single point of contact for collecting and sharing requested information.
  10. Performs other duties as required. 
  11. Participate in Dry-Dock meetings as needed/assigned.

Job Requirements


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering from an accredited institution. Experience: 5-7 years within the Marine Shipping Industry, Passenger Cruise industry preferred. Chief Engineer’s license preferred. Experience in managing a team of traveling Engineers, as well as being able to properly communicate with Engineers onboard vessels. Have the ability to bring different groups together in order to form a cohesive team when working on projects.

Knowledge and Skills:

Utilizes project management tools and techniques to develop and maintain project scope; manages customer expectations and maintains focus. Solid written and verbal communication skills, must communicate at all levels of the organization. Knowledge of CAR process: budget, approval, reconciliation, and reporting, Amos, Newbuild management tool and related systems. Proficient with vessel operations in order to apply projects and instructions to existing conditions. Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple projects on multiple vessels; understand the importance of keeping many departments informed with policy or onboard changes.
