Position Summary:

The Senior Analyst is accountable for the forecasting, planning, reporting, and accounting for the Information Technology shoreside-based outside service costs required to operate/maintain the organization. The position is expected to display considerable initiative, independent judgment, and leadership skills in performing financial activities including determining agreement terms, assessments, cost estimates, financial analyses (cash flow, NPV, etc.), cost reduction initiative tracking, contractual obligation analyses, detailed agreement amortization analyses, vendor financing, monthly detailed accounting entries, and business case analyses. The candidate must have a broad background of industry best practices and performance metrics, as well as financial and accounting acumen.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees controls and processes around management of shoreside vendor outside services (repair & maintenance and other fixed contract agreement costs); performs all forecasting and accounting for said costs, reviews contracts, compares prospective purchases to budget, etc. Working with operational contract owners.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for referenced activity, in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Conduct financial review and approval of requisitions for G&A lines within oversight.
  • Provide reporting and scorecard metrics for Information Technology management team including detailed variance analyses for actuals compared to plans/forecasts.
  • Improve financial status/awareness by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions (oral and/or written) to management including formal business case analyses, when warranted.
  • Continuous improvement mindset including process improvement while maintaining internal controls.
  • Develop and prepare financial models, presenting and analyzing financial data in current status and what-if scenarios.
  • Liaise with Digital initiative organization for shared costs, cost reduction opportunities, and contractual obligation reporting requirements.
  • Compile detailed amortization analyses for prepaid agreements, working the operational owner and internal finance/accounting stakeholders.
  • Lead annual outside services planning process for finance organization, collaborating with operational contract owners and their management teams.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5-7 years related work experience.
  • Experience applying finance and accounting principles is essential.
  • Experience with U.S. GAAP adherence required.
  • I.T. Finance or technology-related experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley controls and testing.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience with JD Edwards application & Essbase/Smartview is highly preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organization, verbal & written communication skills.
  • Must have good spreadsheet and analytical skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work under tight timelines, prioritizing responsibilities as needed.
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to type proficiently.
