Position Summary:


The Labor Planning Analyst assists the Information Technology Finance department with regard to labor resources for financial month end close, quarterly forecasts, and annual planning.  This position is instrumental in assisting to manage the labor force for the Information Technology organization, including both employees and contractual labor resources.  The role includes establishing/maintaining the environment for the organization to successfully plan/forecast labor resources, as well as turning data into information used for that purpose and monthly financial accounting closes.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze capital (CAR) projects involving I.T. organization, including initial capital cost and verification of expense funding from business sponsor (if included) based on approved funding.
  • Analyze resource capacity and demand for projects, operations, and organizations, providing information to Resource Managers (RM's), Project Managers (PM's), and Executives to determine actions.
  • Identify project/support financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.  From analysis, provide recommendations to operations to attain financial goals.
  • Compile weekly detailed reporting on actuals versus plan/forecast projections for organization.  Re-design/develop reporting, as needed, to accommodate operational requests and provide guidance to meet or exceed financial goals.
  • Provide reporting and scorecard metrics for Information Technology management team.  Facilitate metric re-designs, as needed, to provide management team with result indicators to manage financials effectively.
  • Improve financial status/awareness by analyzing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends, and recommending actions to management.
  • Provide instruction/training on Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool (currently Computer Associates Clarity) and modules to RM¿s, PM¿s, and organization as required.
  • Create and enable a continuous improvement process for the demand management process including actions completed by RM¿s, PM¿s, and labor planning team.
  • Develop and prepare financial models, presenting and analyzing financial data in current status and what-if scenarios.
  • Lead set-up of projects in Clarity database including account set-ups, audit of tasks for proper accounting, time sheet adjustments as required, business charge-backs, and operations support plan maintenance.
  • Prepare labor allocation entries as a part of month end process.
  • Lead annual I.T. labor resources planning process for finance organization, collaborating with key stakeholder organizations (Delivery, Product, etc.).  Design and distribute reports to achieve task.  

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Minimum 5-7 years related work experience.
  • Experience applying finance and accounting principles is essential.
  • I.T. Finance or technology-related experience highly preferred
  • Experience with CA PPM (Clarity) application is highly preferred.
  • Experience with JD Edwards application & Essbase/Smartview is highly preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organization, verbal & written communication skills.
  • Must have good spreadsheet and analytical skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work under tight timelines, prioritizing responsibilities as needed.
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to type proficiently.
