Position Summary:

The role of the Security Systems Administrator is to make sure that the security infrastructure upon which the company depends to protect information assets, computing systems and the health and safety of guests and crew is maintained and available to perform its functions 24/7.

Our security systems administrator should have a working knowledge of standard operational technology management and capable of administration of hosts and services focused on information security technologies. This role is part of a small team with a broad mandate - overseeing the health and operations of all dedicated information security infrastructure, including firewalls, anti-virus, security monitoring, vulnerability scanners, etc.  – while driving continual improvement.

The Security Systems Administrator will support delivery teams when deploying or improving information security technologies, ensure that those systems are configured to provide the business the ability to perform its functions in an appropriately secure manner and continue to provide ongoing maintenance and configuration updates as needed.

A working knowledge in systems administration is required, knowledge of specific security technologies, such as vulnerability scanners, anti-virus, firewalls, Security Event and Information Management systems, and Intrusion Protection Systems would be a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer security systems and supporting infrastructure
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure rapid response to any issues impacting deployed security technologies or business systems supported by the security technologies.
  • Works with network security monitoring tools for use with network devices or systems.
  • Installs and supports anti-virus software and network sniffers.
  • Explains the use of remote access through gateway content filtering.
  • Participates in the implementation of IT hardware within the organization.
  • Tracks operational problems related to IT hardware and reports them directly to the supervisor.
  • Administers software migration and contingency plans related to own function.
  • Installs, upgrades or maintains firewall technology or anti-virus software.
  • Provides day-to-day application support; handles updates, problems and failures.




Job Requirements




Bachelor’s Degree in Information Security or equivalent.

Security industry relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, CIPP

2+ years of information technology experience including experience in IT and/or Information Security systems administration. Multi-agency, multi-organizational (global) or enterprise-wide IS technical and administrative expertise highly preferred. 

Candidate must be collaborative, highly organized, creative, and effective communicator (both written and verbal).

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Ability to create high quality content with quick delivery expectations with minimal supervision.

Ability to work on multiple projects, balancing a mix of resources, due dates and requirements.

ITIL and ISO/IEC 27001 Information Security Management background a plus.
