Position Summary

Participate actively on project team, in coordination with the Project Manager, to manage all aspects of project planning, status reporting, administrative and logistical tasks.  Oversee completion and submission of all operations and monitoring manuals as well as engineering drawings for approval and to vendors for budgeting and scheduling.  Complete all cabin, travel, and logistical requests.  Monitor financial activities and ensure accurate tracking of all expenditures.  Oversee vendor and team member project deadlines. Provides input on project planning methods and tool usage in order to continuously improve best practices and standardized methodologies to be used by the management team.  Ensure adherence to standards to enable consistent executive reporting across Projects. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with project team and Project Manager in order to maintain project plan.
  • Keeps reporting data related to sub-projects and tasks up to date
  • Generates pre-built reports for distribution
  • Conducts initial analysis to determine that all proposed components meet all technical specs, regulatory standards and overall system requirements.  
  • Builds, plans and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Utilizes electronic project, document management and costing tools
  • Identifies, analyzes and responds to project risks, and take reasonable risks as appropriate.
  • Submits RFPs and organize quotes to provide accurate estimates of all system and subsystem life cycle costs. 
  • Communicates project plan status on a regular basis to project team and project stakeholders. Establishing goals and analyzing project work process.
  • Proactively interfaces with multiple project plan owners from other business units and construction contractor planning departments
  • Coordinates with the Project and CAR Managers to determine financial and administrative progress.
  • Reviews recommendations based on best practices related to execution methodology, planning & estimation strategies, and reporting that may be beneficial to project. 
  • Performs project audits against standardized methodologies

Financial Responsibilities

  • Track all CAR account expenditures to ensure purchases are compliant with accounting policies and costs do not exceed budget.   Forecast budget adherence is $4.4 million

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor degree with a concentration in Mechanical or Marine Engineering,
  • Naval Architecture, Project Management or related field, or equivalent experience. 
  • International manufacturing experience preferred. 
  • Advanced degree(s) and/or PMP certification considered a plus.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Five plus years of experience in managing projects with multiple teams involving internal and external resources. 
  • Must possess a general familiarity and knowledge of mechanical or marine engineering concepts. 
  • Must be comfortable interacting with highly technical teams, including vendors. 
  • Three to five  years project planning and best practice development following a standardized project lifecycle process. 
  • Experience managing full project lifecycles in some of the following: ship construction, building construction, manufacturing, plant repair/maintenance, technical project procurement, inventory and production control. 
  • Experience with standard project planning and management tools (NIKU/MS Project workbench preferred). 
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Must communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills. 
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical and spreadsheet modeling skills. 
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience in managing projects with multiple teams involving internal and external resources.

Must be willing to travel as required by project (probably 5-20%)
