Position Summary:

The Middleware Platform Engineer is responsible for the design, development, operation, and maintenance of software and infrastructure related to Middleware Platform technology.  This individual is knowledgeable in the software and infrastructure necessary to solve technical problems by means of following a defined systematic troubleshooting methodology.  This position employs software, infrastructure, and communication technologies to accomplish assignments. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Middleware technology and integrated components.
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining Middleware technology and integrated components.
  • Assists in creating technical design specifications for new or existing solutions.
  • Takes part in implementing updates to existing solutions by following predefined documentation.
  • Takes part in planning and implementation of complex solutions.
  • Creates and augmenting technical documentation.
  • Expected to perform other technical or non-technical duties relative to the job function as may arise from project or support initiatives.
  • Capable of mentoring or guiding junior staff.
  • Capable of working as part of a team.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems or Information Technology, or Computer Science.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Demonstrates analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience with container technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes. Should be able to build , configure, support and troubleshoot Production environments.
  • Deploy and Upgrade Docker and Kubernetes Software.
  • Must have experience in Integrating Microservices with other Microservices and automating the deployment of Microservices on Kubernetes platform
  • Migrate applications to Docker based platform using Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Jenkins configuration and support.
  • Automate Application deployments.
  • Working experience of AWS and GCP cloud providers.
  • Understands concepts of OSI model.
  • Understands application infrastructure.
  • Experience with Linux and AIX OS.
  • Strong scripting skills Python, Shell and Ansible.
  • Experience with modern techniques like Agile, Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience with F5 and Datapower or Apigee
  • Ensure proper monitoring on Kubernetes environment. Leverage PagerDuty to send alerts in case of emergencies

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Majority of work takes place at RCCL’s Port location with selected assignments in other domestic/international locations and/or shipside. Select assignments may require partial to significant time shipside as well as at other RCCL operating locations domestically and internationally.
