POSITION SUMMARY:


Management level position with controllership responsibilities over all, or certain parts of the P&L in all or some of the specific brands (RCI & CEL/ACC or all three) shipboard revenue and expense transactions for certain portions of the Royal Caribbean brands.  Requires significant interaction with shipboard personnel and shoreside Fleet Operations, Information Technology, Human Resources, Purchasing, Treasury, Legal and Third Party vendors.
This position may have considerable interaction with all management levels, including Directors, AVPs and Officers, from financial and operational departments across the organization.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensuring departments and individual goals and objectives are met and aligned with the Company¿s / Accounting departments policies, procedures and goals
  • Managing up to 10 professional staff to ensure the department¿s goals, objectives and controllership responsibilities are carried out in a well-controlled environment
  • Manage, maintaining and establishing systems of internal control in Operations Accounting to ensure compliance with Company Sarbanes-Oxley and departmental standards
  • Presenting the results of variance analysis (actual to forecasts / plan) effectively to Senior Management and / or Operational groups at month-end close and / or other meetings
  • Ensuring monthly balance sheet reconciliations are properly and timely performed
  • Working with other departments to ensure that existing processes, or proposed changes, are well controlled, operating efficiently and effectively while identifying improvements, if any
  • Working with external and internal auditors on financial statement, Sarbanes-Oxley and other audit and review projects
  • Working with Operations, Legal and Concessionaires on concessionaire contract language / negotiations, settlement forms and other related matters
  • Working with banks and credit card associations with respect to shipboard cash, credit card settlements and other related matters
  • Participating in system design, implementation and testing for all new shipboard financial systems
  • Developing presentations and analytical tools to educate / assist company management
  • Leading or participating in special projects as assigned
    Interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving personnel issues
  • Keeping current with accounting, industry and regulatory issues impacting the department

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Four-year Accounting and/or Finance degree from an accredited University
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Master's Degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years related experience 


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Management, leadership, human resource and interpersonal skills
    Previous direct supervisory experience required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Prior experience with inventory control systems, purchasing, and point of sale and back-office hospitality systems is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of systems, JDE financial systems helpful
    Strong computer, communication and presentation skills
