Job Description

Royal Caribbean is looking for a Manager to join its Destination Development Group. The Destination Development Group seeks strategic destination and  infrastructure investments around the globe that serve Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. growing fleet of ships and markets, improve guest satisfaction, and generate long-term returns.

The core focus of the Manager, Destination Development, Portfolio Management position is to oversee the performance of Destination Development's growing investment portfolio.  The Manager position is responsible for analyzing and forecasting JV and wholly-owned investment financials, producing both investment level and portfolio level analytics, as well as preparing various management reports and valuations.  Other responsibilities include communicating with joint venture partners on a regular basis, coordinating deliverables with internal and external partners, managing portfolio investment dividends and equity pick-ups (EPU), , and supporting the broader finance needs of the team on an ad hoc basis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage the reporting process for the Destination Development Group¿s portfolio investments.
  • Engage and establish a strong rapport with JV partners and their respective accounting teams and ensure the latest financials and forecast assumptions are received on a timely basis. 
  • Analyze investment financials and interpret results into actionable and meaningful analysis.
  • Critically examine changes in each portfolio investment's performance and question performance drivers as well as forecast assumptions provided by JV partners.
  • Proactively address changes in investment performance and communicate impact of changes to RCL dividends and equity pick-ups to internal partners.
  • Maintain the portfolio investment performance analysis schedules for each active portfolio investment.  Requires periodic updating of actual activity, forecasting future performance, analyzing calculated returns and valuations, and summarizing results.
  • Prepare and update the portfolio schedule of investments and supplemental schedules reflecting individual investment and portfolio level performance.
  • Forecast equity pickups for equity method investments with a high level of confidence based on prior period actual activity and frequently updating forecast assumptions.
  • Communicate investment and portfolio level performance regularly to internal partners.
  • Prepare the portfolio investments presentation and additional materials for briefing the CFO.
  • Provide support in managing the Destination Development Group's annual budget
  • Update monthly dividend, equity pick-up, and G&A reports and forecasts in an accurate and timely manner and ensure forecasts are properly uploaded to Corporate Planning's database.
  • Oversee accounting entries and invoicing related to pipeline and portfolio investments.
  • Support internal partners by providing variance analyses with meaningful explanations.
  • Assess drivers that contributed to changes in valuations over the holding period of each investment.
  • Assist in enhancing the group's analytics, procedures, and reporting processes.
  • Continuously strive to improve the accuracy and efficiency of reporting financial results for the Destination Development Group.
  • Provide ad hoc support, assist with financial modeling, and produce various analyses as requested.
  • Work closely with wholly-owned investment accounting team(s) to monitor financial performance and provide guidance as needed. 
  • Assist in preparing Board of Directors meeting materials for wholly-owned investments.
  • Monitor key performance metrics across the various portfolio investments and benchmark performance to industry and portfolio standards.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a quantitative discipline (preferred), and 7 years of experience in a financial role.
  • Experience in Big 4 accounting, asset management, or real estate investments preferred.
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and financial analysis skills required.
  • Detail oriented and well organized.
  • Strong background in financial statement analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic and fast paced environment while handling multiple projects.
  • Keen attention to details.
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to work well within a team-oriented environment or individually.
  • Previous valuation experience and working with joint venture investments preferred.
  • Previous experience with equity method accounting preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required.
