Position Summary

Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Contracts Manager to join its in-house legal team in Miami, Florida.  The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, negotiating and administering a variety of commercial agreements, including various sales agreements, entertainment agreements, amendments to charter agreements, event planning agreements, equipment purchase or lease agreements, location agreements;  non-disclosure agreements, as well as assistance with various tasks as assigned by in-house attorneys from time to time.

  • Working primarily with one attorney but assisting others on an as available basis and working directly with business teams to develop and maintain standard form contracts in a variety of areas.
  •  Establishing contract management procedures and controls for ensuring use of appropriate forms and adherence to established corporate contracts policies 
  • Negotiating a variety of common contractual issues that may arise related to standard agreements; preparation of amendments to contracts, as necessary, and managing the contract amendment process
  • Leveraging available in-house tools, such as any contract automation and management tools available in the department, including implementation of new contract management system tools.
  • Creating and maintaining various legal intranet site ¿self-service¿ tools and resources for business unit and Legal Department use, such as playbooks, checklists, and pre-approved legal forms 
  • Coordinating execution of agreements and tracking matters; responding to general inquiries and requests for legal documents and forms
  • Conducting training presentations for internal business units
  • Preparing and disseminating information to the business regarding contract processes and status; facilitating meetings
  • Serving as a liaison between the Legal Department and the company's various business units
  • Assess complexity and materiality of incoming matters and escalates to the appropriate attorney, as needed;
  • Serving as a liaison between the Legal Department and the company's various business units; and
  • Such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by attorneys within the legal department

 

 

 

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in related field
  • At least 7 years of experience drafting, negotiating and administering commercial agreements
  • Experience in cruise line or travel industry or in an in-house legal environment is a plus
  • Certification as a paralegal or professional contracts manager is a plus
  • Candidates must be able to conform to employer dress and conduct standards
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task on a large number of complex issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated high proficiency for correct spelling, grammar, tone, and syntax
  • High-level of experience in contract negotiation preferred
  •  Advanced computer skills (e.g. expertise in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and contract management applications)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with a high volume of assignments
  • Sound legal and business judgment
  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive, confidential material 
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, commitment to client service, and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including teammates and business team members across the Company as well as with outside vendors and consultants
  • Ability to deal confidently with internal and external customers at all organizational levels
  • Ability to understand and explain risk in various scenarios
