Job Description


The position is responsible for providing legal counsel to a number of internal Royal Caribbean departments, including Commercial Development, Private Destinations, Port Operations/ Guest Port Services, Workplace Solutions, Casino, Environmental, Safety, and Global Security, Corporate Responsibility, and Government Relations.  This attorney reviews, negotiates, and prepares a variety of contracts, including real estate and development related agreements, and provides strategic legal advice on a broad range of topics.  This position provides legal support to the General Counsel and other attorneys in the Legal Department as required. 


  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including with respect to facilities, cruise port development, cruise port operations, construction projects, and casino.
  • Draft and review transnational real estate documents, including, among others, letters of intent, memorandum of understanding, heads of agreement, development agreements, purchase and sale agreements, leases, and confidentiality agreements.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to a number of internal departments and assist with administration of contracts in accordance with Company policies and legal requirements.
  • Research, review, and interpret the requirements of governmental agencies, laws, statutes, rules, regulations, and court decisions.
  • Work closely with and provide counsel to business leaders and other cross-functional teams.
  •  Identify and evaluate risks and propose solutions to mitigate risks.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited university and law school is required.
  • License to practice law required; Florida Bar preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of real estate/ transactional experience; medium/large law firm and/or in-house experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to make decisions and assess acceptable levels of business risk.
  • Excellent drafting ability; must draft contracts, reports, and business correspondence.
  • Must be able to work independently and efficiently under time pressures and deadlines in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Must work with a sense of professional pride, possess a strong work ethic, be proactive, enthusiastic, and flexible, and have business and personal integrity.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, including the ability to simplify technical and legal jargon; effective public speaking ability.
  • Must be highly organized, detailed oriented, responsive, and dependable.
  • Ability to handle multiple urgent and important matters while maintaining professional but cordial relations with internal clients.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and online research tools.
