POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead, Multi-Media Training Design and Development individual is a key member of the Learning and Development (L+D) team, located at Royal Caribbean’s Miami headquarter office. This role sits within an internal team serving as learning design and development experts in the Human Resources Learning Center of Excellence (COE). Individuals in the department have deep expertise through formal education and practical experience building learning programs through a variety of delivery methods (e.g., instructor-led training, eLearning, video). This individual is expected to be fluent with the lifecycle of learning design and have direct experience building training programs, with particular emphasis on eLearning, video, and other multi-media / graphic products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop learning products with interactive multi-media elements (e.g., images, graphics, videos, audios, scenarios, interactions, charts and other multimedia formats) content with little information to begin with; independently research and navigate the organization and external marketplace to find relevant information with/without subject matter experts (SME) assistance.
  • Work in partnership with the internal Instructional Design team through all project phases from concept to final delivery of learning products (e.g., eLearning, video, web, print).
  • Formulate, guide, and develop visual project design and proactively solicit and incorporate feedback from stakeholders to make appropriate changes.
  • Perform quality assurance testing and organize updates to existing learning materials.
  • Make recommendations regarding design approach, e.g., build, buy or curate content to meet the needs of the project.
  • Collaborate with and provide design direction to outside creative agencies contracted to work on projects with the COE.
  • Ensure the creation of all learning solutions maintain high standards of excellence in design, instructional soundness, and meet the business needs within the project parameters (e.g., time, budget, business objectives).
  • Ensure training is global in nature, applicable across all brands, and tailored appropriately for the intended audience.

 

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Education, Business, Communications, Hospitality, or related field.
  • 6+ years of related work experience developing training programs, products, and solutions, with particular emphasis on multi-media development (e.g., eLearning, web, video).
  • Experience developing sound instructional objectives, exams/certifications and learning measurement strategies specific to digital learning.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Excellent graphic design skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Graduate / post-graduate degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Graphic Design, or Communications.
  • Prior experience working in a multi-brand, global industry is preferred.
  • Practical experience working on and leading projects where photo and video shoots are required.
  • Demonstrated success working in a complex, service-intensive, deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated success in working with and influencing cross-functional work teams in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects on time and on budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions in a timely manner sometimes with incomplete information, under tight deadlines and in high pressure situations.
  • History of consistently delivering positive business results.
  • History of developing others and self in the learning / training discipline.
  • History of external involvement in professional associations and learning-related organizations.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Deep knowledge on educational technology and multi-media design ¿ in particular eLearning, video, and web development.
  • Possess a high degree of technical proficiency and ongoing personal development with software programs necessary for the position: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Cloud (e.g., After Effects, InDesign, Photoshop) and eLearning development tools such as Storyline, Articulate 360, Rise, and others.
  • Ability to synthesize and produce strategically focused print, multimedia and video materials utilizing brand style guidelines and the advanced application of color, typography, layout, image, video and sound.
  • Mastery of Microsoft PowerPoint to create design-focused presentations and learning materials.
  • Ability to rapidly formulate Proof of Concepts and problem solve with a mastery of the Adobe Create Suite to create innovative, experiential and on-brand visual experiences.
  • Working knowledge of video editing software (either/both) Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
  • Working knowledge of photo and video shoot lifecycle all phases from pre- though post- production.
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at varying levels of management with credibility.
  • Ability to be detailed oriented, while maintaining alignment with broader organization objectives.
  • Comfort with complexity, ambiguity, and change.
  • Comfort with abstract concepts and ideas as initial business needs are scoped.
  • Confidence with translating client needs into forward-thinking products and solutions.
  • Possess strong content writing ability, creativity, attention to detail and excellent proofing and editing skills.
  • Self-starter with self-confidence, enthusiasm, and strong customer service orientation.
  • Manages time well, correctly prioritizes tasks, and is flexible.
