Position Summary:


This role supports all crew members of the RCL brands, Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara  and, Pullmantur. The focus of this role is to follow the implementation of plans for the assigned projects as well as assuring that the proper contingent plans and HR risk assessments are followed through. Responsible for coordinating all Global Port Logistics needs as well as the logistic arrangements for the Crew Mass Arrival movements including but not limited to New Build, revites and dry-docks as well as any other movements due to unforeseen circumstances or emergencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supports the implementation of all HR Operations tasks and activities related to New Builds, Dry Docks, Riding Crew and unplanned operations.
  • Supports the HR Port logistics team in the set-up and development of new/existing ports and any crew movement related processes and procedures.
  • Leads pre-planning operational set-up and financial planning for employee logistics for each project.
  • Produces detailed logistics operational plans for each project including pre arrival preparations and crew mass arrival.
  • Before the start of a New Build project In collaboration with brand leaders sets up Port Agent support prior to the start of the project including RFP and contract execution.
  • Arranges and contracts living accommodations (long term apartments) for early arrival to the yard for shipboard employees.
  • Responsible for logics support for any unplanned situation that requires immediate support to our crew. This may require unplanned emergency travel to location where crew members and ships may be in distress.
  • Contracts and arranges hotel accommodations for crew members for each project.
  • Negotiate and manage vendors who provide services for crew logistics/movement, such as hotel, transportation, visas, immigration and any other matters. Including documentation vendor set up as well as contract process
  • Manage vendor performance by analyzing cost, process[es], efficiencies and quality surveys.
  • Continually strives to improve overall service and efficiency of operations by managing quality assurance of pier, airport, transportation and hotel experiences through spot checks, survey results, and additional vessel feedback; addresses service failures and develops and implements corrective action plans. Recommends adjustments to turnaround operations to enhance crew satisfaction and reduce operating expenses.
  • Produces detailed operational plans for all ports, including crew departure procedures, boarding procedure, general information, immigration, and customs clearance. Leads pre-planning operational set-up and financial planning for ports, prior to start of each itinerary, includes vendor and ship training.
  • Review vendor invoices, verifying services rendered to ensure correct charges, advising and auctioning where deviations are identified. Identify areas of financial opportunities and propose solutions.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Paralegal, International Relations or Maritime Law or directly related, equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience working with port administration, hotel, transportation, and contract procurement, or at least  four years’ experience managing maritime logistics
  • Must be bilingual, with fluency in English (Spanish, Portuguese or Chinese preferred); proficiency in additional languages preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience successfully negotiating terms and agreements in the best interest of the company

Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to use a variety software packages including, but not limited to, all aspects of MS Office; familiar with social media and relevant company/brand efforts

Demonstrated experience in people management; persuasive, encouraging, and motivating

Extensive understanding of and familiarity with policies and procedures, related specifically to port operations, as they relate to crew logistics

Thorough knowledge of geography, including cultural and societal drivers that directly affect business negotiations

Highly developed written and presentational skills; ability to clearly articulate complex messages to a variety of audiences, including senior management

Proven influencer and communicator who can speak with stakeholders at all levels

Tactful, resolute, and committed to providing excellent customer service; also flexible and able to work effectively in a variety of situations, seeking improvements and looking to the future
