Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting the Sr. Financial Analyst and will assist with the financial planning, analysis, review of actual expenditures, governance, and reporting of one or more Information Technology projects.   The responsibilities include compiling and preparing the initial and updated budgets and projections of future spend. These budgets include but are not limited to employee and contract labor, HW/SW, professional services, and travel.  Responsibilities also include tracking and reporting CAPEX spend.  The position is expected to display considerable initiative and independent judgment while providing support and analysis that allows the Sr. Financial Analyst to be accountable for planning and forecasting, analysis, project assessments, preliminary cost estimates, and governance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with financial plans and forecasts (including spending curves), ensuring all project requirements and objectives are properly documented and budgeted.
  • Compile and analyze project financials ensuring that risks and issues are identified, reviewed, and resolved in collaboration with the Sr. Financial Analyst.
  • Interact frequently with CAR Managers, Project Managers, and Sr. Financial Analyst to ensure timely and accurate project plans and forecasts.
  • Provide support to ensure that all aspects of a project comply with Corporate policies and procedures, including proper Capital Project Approvals for new and amended initiatives as well as proper capitalization of expenses.
  • Provide support, guidance, and training on the financial aspects of a project to the respective project team members.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly reports for Corporate Accounting and Capital Planning as required.
  • Ad-hoc analysis of capital projects, expenditures, and project scope, as required.
  • Assist with the periodic audit of capital projects for compliance.
  • Provide support in the development and monthly update of the Capital plan.
  • Prepare CAR related journal entries and submit to Sr. Financial Analyst.
  • Develop and implement I.T. financial procedures and standards as needed.
  • Meet with resource managers to understand requirements and schedule project level labor demand.
  • Identify ways to improve processes and increase efficiencies. 



Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in business related major, Finance or Accounting preferred
  • Minimum 1 years related work experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities
  • IT Finance or technology related experience is a plus
  • Solid understanding of IT estimation activities is a plus
  • Experience with CA PPM (Clarity) application is preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organization, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as good spreadsheet skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.  Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work under tight timelines, prioritizing responsibilities as needed.
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers and management; ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Clear understanding of capital vs non-capital expenditures
  • Accepts accountability and manages execution.
  • Must have ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities to meet organizational goals.
