POSITION SUMMARY:

We're looking for a trash-talking, waste-fighting, garbage-guru individual that wants to be a passionate manager of sustainability, food systems and waste. This person will be responsible to develop techniques, best practices, procedures, SOPs and developing systems to reduce waste fleetwide while improve sustainability using systems to reduce food waste for all food and beverage areas. Position will help develop new systems with IT and improving legacy systems to better monitor and track food and beverage waste. They will oversee the F&B content for the fleetwide POS system and analyzing ways to keep the system accurate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Able to facilitate the growth and success of company waste sustainability initiatives through innovative thinking, collaboration with onboard teams, collaborative problem-solving
  • Collaborate with shipboard teams to find waste reduction ideas and turn them into reality
  • Responsible for setting KPIs and developing corrective action plans
  • Creates strategies for F&B fleet waste reduction and critical thinking
  • Develops framework to integrate sustainability food systems especially for food production
  • Develops ways to improve operating efficiencies to reduce waste and improve sustainability and food quality
  • Partners with IT to develop new systems or redevelop legacy systems
  • Develops and finds solutions and managed ways to reduce food waste including sustaining wins
  • Develops systems and ways to donate food to local charities
  • Develops business cases for special projects and measure results
  • Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of F&B content on the fleetwide POS system
  • Finding ways to reduce waste by collaborating with onboard teams
  • Finds/manages equipment to reduce waste and measure results
  • Collaborates with Hotel Directors, F&B Directors, Executive Chef to ID other waste reduction ideas
  • Deploying waste reduction initiative to the fleet partnering with Learning and Development teams
  • Develop curriculum for change management
  • Develops KPIs for F&B food waste and reporting to identify trends and recommend improvements
  • Manage ad hoc test/projects to learn if an idea is a good idea to reduce waste and gather Ops feedback
  • Develop best ways to display data that is understood by team in an effort to sell a great idea
  • Support all projects for revitalization, amplification and newbuild with related analysis

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Environmental Management, Environmental studies or similar
  • MBA or advanced business degree preferred
  • 3 to 5 years related experience in food waste / financial / business analysis or related field
  • Cruise or Travel Industry experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Advance Microsoft ® Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Project Manager strongly preferred. Knowledge of Hyperion Interactive Reporting Studio ®, Power Bi is required.
  • Should be excited about developing and implementing plans to engage senior leadership and spread the message about waste reduction which leads to sustainability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced analytical skills should include mathematical modeling; data management, statistical analysis and broad exposure to operations research
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation and listening skills, including the ability to adjust and effectively interact with external customers, internal staff, food and beverage corporate and ships leadership; and executive management
  • Bold thinker with ability to generate creative and actionable recommendations to increase revenue, reduce costs and improve operational performance, efficiency and excellence
  • Ability to analyze complex data, draw conclusions, develop and execute appropriate action plans
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills to identify & interpret trends and provide achievable recommendations
  • Ability to solve complex problems with a variety of components in situations where no standardization exists
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strategical and tactical thinking and execution
  • Performs well with proficiency in financial modeling, business analytics, and business process illustrations to both technical and non-technical audiences
