Job Description


Plan, develop and maintain the Entertainment Program (Headliner and Live Music) on RCI and Azamara ships to support a balanced entertainment product as required by fleet itineraries and projected guest mix.


  • Recruit, screen, interview and book directly or with agent support Entertainers to include musicians and headliner acts.
  • Be able to evaluate act skills such as talent, originality, authenticity, fit for the brand, production value, show flow and suitability for selected ship and demographic.
  • Be able to evaluate musician skills such as sight-reading, intonation, appropriate musical aesthetics, range of instruments and overall musicianship.
  • Maintain master entertainment schedules by ship and itinerary. Adjusts schedules based on itineraries, guest demographics, performance, requests, etc.  Reviews staffing levels of musicians and acts to anticipate and prevent shortages and selects appropriate replacements within strict timetables and deadlines.
  • Plan schedules and rotations to insure proper balance of entire entertainment product offering.
  • Establishes and maintains a network of resources through the development of relationships with music schools, colleges, theatrical agencies and related resources.
  • Travel to various locations and attend festivals, concerts, performances featuring live professional music and headliner entertainment, and schedule auditions and showcases to seek out new sources of talent.  Includes setting up and attending auditions, showcases, industry events and functions, and the reviewing of audio selections and/or videos.
  • Negotiate and finalize all contracts maintaining entertainment KPIs within the annual budget.
  • Participate in entertainment development by tracking immerging trends, analyzing guest feedback and attending performances of the booked entertainment program.
  • Travels to the various vessels to evaluate all performances. Meets with Musical Directors, Stage and Production Managers and Cruise Directors to assess and provide feedback regarding the quality of the overall entertainment product.
  • Prepare annual operating budget for all entertainers and manage expenses within established operating plan.
  • Liaise with Crew Acquisition and Movement to include support of long-term acts and musicians.
  • Coordinates with CAM and Risk Management regarding travel, sign on, sign off, medical and risk management issues.
  • Plan and implement specialized Entertainment for Sales Events, Groups, Charters, Theme Cruises and shore side Corporate Events.
  • Prepares various reports as required including, but not limited to, status reports, talent search reviews, budget analysis and industry trends.


Job Requirements


  • A minimum of five years in Show Business is required. Talent sourcing and/or casting or talent scheduling experience is required.
  • A deep understanding and experience in theater and/or studio environment is required.
  • Proven success in relationships with leading theatrical agencies must be demonstrated.
  • Bachelor¿s Degree in Entertainment, Music, Theater, Production, Event Planning, Leisure Studies, Recreation, and Communication is preferred.
  • Experience as a performer, in front of live audiences (and therefore having a profound understanding of the complexities and idiosyncrasies of the performing arts) is preferred.
  • Must have excellent communication and management skills with strong ability for making decisions.
  • Able to travel on-board the vessels and to showcases and auditions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written skills.
  • Candidate must possess strong leadership skills, time management skills, and written and oral communication skills and be able to effectively with all senior levels of operational personnel.
  • Computer skills.
  • Travel required.
