Job Description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible developing both short- & long-term strategy for energy saving technical upgrades. The objective of this role is to lead energy saving retrofit activities for the fleet in coordination with both the internal & external stakeholders, business case analysis, establish benefit tracking process & reporting and provide performance feedback to both shipboard & shoreside personnel ensure operations as designed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify and/or evaluate both new & matured technologies for significant efficiency improvements in energy creation, distribution, and utilization on board
  • Create and maintain an energy tool box/technology garage for further energy efficiency enhancements
  • Spearhead the energy retrofit program in coordination with both the internal & external stakeholders across all brands within the Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.
  • Create and maintain both short- & long-term strategic plan for the fleet retrofit program, including the financial aspects i.e. Capex, Opex, IRR etc.
  • Responsible for pre-feasibility analysis and creating business cases for the energy retrofits
  • Follow up on the robust set of key performance indicators to monitor and identify areas for improvement
  • Development of the energy management advisory systems & track the vessels operational efficiency
  • Oversee operations optimization for all brands within RCCL
  • Lead & oversee the implementation of hull coating strategy and related data analytics
  • Establish procedure and oversee the benefit tracking for the energy capital retrofit program
  • Establish process of regular status reports to executive team on retrofit program execution and on hull coating strategy

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge & analytical skills including advanced Excel, PowerPoint. Previous experience with programming and data mining
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively with various departments within the organization, both shipboard and shore side.
  • Experience in project management and facilitating cross functional activity
  • Need to possess good skills for financial planning and analysis
  • Detailed knowledge of cruise vessel operations and energy management

Qualifications:

  • Background as Naval Architect or Marine/Mechanical/Electrical Engineer and experience with a shipping company either on board/on shore or both, classification society or similar.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture or a related engineering field from an accredited college or university preferred.
  •  

    At least 10+ years of experience in cruise ship technical operations/energy management/fleet optimization/technical project management and/or execution or related, with an ability to supervise 2-5 direct reports.
