This position will also lead the meaningful development of the Luxury Expedition target audience to firmly establish Celebrity's Galapagos fleet, with emphasis on Celebrity Flora, as the leading modern luxury ships in the Galapagos. This includes a mastery of competitive products, marketing strategies and customer bases, with ongoing insight into how and where to find them.  Partnership with business insights and analytics, e-commerce and media are vital as ticket expectations for Celebrity¿s Galapagos products continue to increase, it is imperative that we have the ability to understand who our audience is, how to reach them, how to influence them and how to create advocacy to drive ongoing performance.  This leader works with partners across the organization to leverage critical target and product insights to drive business strategy. 

The Director of Marketing Galapagos is responsible for the global commercial success of Celebrity's Galapagos product portfolio, conceptualizing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies, in partnership with Sales and all relevant distribution channels, including Celebrity Vacations Operations team.  This individual will direct marketing initiatives that present the Celebrity Galapagos experience in relevant, highly targeted, cost effective consumer touch points. 

Direct selling of our products is essential, and this role will assist in the development of consumer facing marketing tools and strategies including e-commerce, social media, chat, photo and video shoots, collateral, global partnerships and promotions, new media/technology development, and market research initiatives for global markets.  This role is responsible for dynamic, effective knowledge of revenue expectations by product, sourcing information, competitive landscape, demand timing, consumer buying behaviors within regions and regional marketing strategies and initiatives. 

The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in luxury expedition travel, such as safari, cruising or ecotourism, with intimate knowledge of affluent guest behavior, habits and decision making.



  • Reports to VP Marketing
  • Establish collaborative processes, goals and with Sales and Product Development
  • Directs and owns the development of effective marketing strategy for Galapagos products
  • Partners with direct channels in development of direct to consumer strategy for Galapagos products
  • Works with Director Sales ¿ Galapagos to develop global commercial marketing plans, initiatives and processes that drive tour program awareness, consideration, and purchase
  • Oversees communication during the creation of marketing assets, tools, and training materials to facilitate education of Celebrity Galapagos offerings across all markets. Uses technology and new media to bring tour offerings to consumers via the channels they are most active in, i.e., Social Media, mobile, etc.
  • Acute focus on trends and competitive intelligence within tour industry to ensure our offerings remain relevant and attractive to end consumer. Researches relevant global consumer insights and trends through primary and secondary consumer research
  • Relentless use of consumer insights and industry trends to build sales and marketing activities worldwide
  • Liaise with Revenue Management to identify in-need sailings, evaluate inventory and pricing
  • Responsible for partnering to achieve overall product performance goals
  • Responsible for complete knowledge of all Celebrity Galapagos products.
  • Work with field sales to identify the strongest media and promotional opportunities within strategic markets that have proven to be the most successful and cost effective while staying aligned with our brand message


Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 10 years + sales experience ¿ preferably in the tourism industry
  • 10 years + marketing experience ¿ preferably in tourism industry
  • 5 years+ experience in leisure travel operations

  • Complete knowledge of Galapagos products, services, capabilities and deployment relative to competition
  • Knowledge of revenue performance management and metrics and corporate revenue expectations
  • Understanding of market research and capabilities in relation to consumer trends, behavior and preferences
  • Knowledge of marketing channels, market oriented strategic planning, and audience segmentation
  • Ability to assemble, lead and liaison with cross functional teams including operations to develop and achieve revenue maximization strategies that include input and buy-in from all stakeholders
  • Ability to secure and analyze corporate data, research and analysis to make recommendations for product strategy and success
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all departments and levels of management throughout the organization and with external customers and companies
  • Effective internal and external communication skills for development of comprehensive and impactful communication to the field and trade audiences
  • Understanding of marketing principles, objectives and tracking, creative messaging and media strategies to maximize reach, frequency and impact
