Position Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for the teams and technology that make up Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Enterprise Data Governance office all of which are being established to power our company’s growth. This is a highly visible and strategic role where you will have stakeholders across the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Establish the data governance office and provide broad oversight over the data governance program
  • Define, manage and advance enterprise information management principles, policies and programs for stewardship, advocacy and custodianship of data and analytics.
  • Drive the documentation, approval, and operationalization of data policies, standards, and processes
  • Facilitate ongoing communication to executive stakeholders across the company
  • Manage alignment with data owners across the company
  • Oversee the activities of the business data stewards
  • Support data quality efforts, including the definition of business rules
  • Drive the metadata initiative, including the establishment of a business glossary
  • Work with technology team including Enterprise Architecture to select and implement data governance tools
  • Develop a data governance dashboard to monitor adherence to data policies, standards, and processes.
  • Work with internal audit to enforce compliance with data policies, standards, and processes.
  • Build a culture of innovation, data curiosity, and collaboration
  • Develop an AI model risk management framework
  • Collaborate with legal and enterprise security to define data privacy rules and standards
  • Develops, implements, and leads a Data Governance communities of practice comprised of a cross-functional group of leaders that will facilitate the prioritization of enterprise initiatives, that aim at ensuring the consistency and reliability of data being produced, as well as, commission foundational projects to remediate data quality, data visibility, and data privacy & security issues
  • Develop an AI model risk management framework


Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems/Computer Science or related field required
  • Master’s Degree is strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years data governance leadership experience
  • Minimum 5 years people leadership with at least 3 years of mid-level management (managing directors)
  • Passionate about helping organizations gain business value by leveraging data
  • Proven experience in establishing and leading enterprise data governance groups
  • Experience with AI/ML model risk management is a plus
