Job Description

This is the fundamental, building-block professional position in Corporate Communications. A specialist will be well-versed in core communications skills, work well in teams or independently, and perform work of a caliber that requires minimal, if any, editing or correction. Versatility, adaptability and curiosity are valuable traits for the specialist; since, over time, professionals may have the opportunity to do a tour of duty in various communications areas, including brand public relations, corporate public relations, employee communications and corporate social responsibility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in creation and implementation of annual strategic public relations plans.
Manage multiple projects from concept to completion on time and within budget.
Draft, update and distribute press and other media relations materials.
Field and fulfill media requests and inquiries.
Work with internal clients to support new product/initiative launches.
Create content for social media and digital/web platforms.
Co-ordinate executive interviews and press tours and ship visits.
Assist with major promotions and special events.
Coordinate agency activities in support of communications projects.
Limited travel.

Track and manage billing and program results.
Assist with budget/expense control and reporting for the department.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent directly related experience required.
4-6 years of agency, government or corporate communications experience

Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Media relations experience
Strong knowledge of digital/social media
Established skills in planning and crisis communication
Proven media skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Can work independently and within a team
Demonstrates potential to interact with senior level management
Can complete challenging projects within set parameters
Exceptional judgment when working with team members, business partners and vendors
Commitment and dedication to the brand's success as well as individual career
