Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s brand standards, SQM standards, USPH guidelines, environment, and safety policies.

In accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s philosophy of Anchored in Excellence, each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellow employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and employee areas.

  • Keep a high standard in the general maintenance of all Island facilities, public areas, i.e. wood work, doors, locks, fences, and back of the house (staff accommodations, staff kitchen, storerooms, etc).
  • Should have knowledge of masonry and carpentry.
  • Must have an understanding of time management and be able to finish assignments in a timely manner.
  • Shall establish a weekly schedule for the routine maintenance for the Island and present it to the Island Manager.
  • Shall be available if an emergency occurs, which requires his participation.
  • Maintains all working tools and carpenter vehicle/facilities vehicle in good condition.
  • Ensure that personal appearance, personal hygiene and uniform appearance is at all times in accordance with Company policy.
  • Understand and can apply in work practices environmental policies and procedures concerning such functions as disposal of materials and chemicals associated with the general maintenance of Island facilities.
  • Other duties may be assigned.


Job Requirements


  • High school or equivalent.
  • A minimum of two years related experience and / or training.
  • Shall be an experienced craftsman with a high knowledge in carpentry and general maintenance.

Language Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret English.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports in English.

Physical Demands:

  • All island employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills.
  • Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.
  • Must be able to stand in the sun and endure external elements during work assignment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Outdoors may be required to walk in extreme humid and hot conditions.
