Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Project Development

  • Work with Architect in designated areas, to provide guidance on design integration to existing vessel.
  • Provide outfitting technical knowledge base, for Architects to assist in the integration of the design into existing areas.
  • Attend meetings with Sponsors and Architects, manage the process, advise feasibility and provide guidance of costs.
  • Assist in the preparation of "Schedule of Values" for the space - ensure the work is well defined for the contractors to bid.
  • Ensure technical aspects are accounted for: Electrical, lighting, piping, HVAC, safety systems, etc.
  • Assist with RFQ process and communicate with contractors and architects to clarify work scope.
  • Assist with analysis of contractor bids.
  • Assist with final selection of supplier.
  • Generate final work scope for contracts (Work package documents).

Planning & Coordination

  • Initial point of contact for Contractors appointed to carry out the work in the designated areas.
  • Coordinate planning and scheduling in designated areas, with Architects and Contractors
  • Track and changes in scope of work and prepare Change Orders for Project Manager approval
  • Coordinate interfaces of different Contractors
  • Arrange coordination meetings with supplier and technical suppliers.
  • Prepare requisitions (RFP) for Owners supply materials and equipment.
  • Ensure Vendors are maintaining Schedule
  • Follow up on deliveries of Owners supply materials etc.
  • Manage technical contractor and consultants in assigned projects

Execution of Work: Manage work on board during dry dock

  • Initial point of contact for Contractors
  • Coordinate interfaces of different Contractors
  • Track and changes in scope of work and prepare Change Orders for Project Manager approval
  • Ensure Vendors are maintaining Schedule
  • Coordinate technical inspections prior to closing deck heads etc.
  • Conduct Preliminary and Final Inspections
  • Prepare Punch List
  • Sign-off spaces

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering and Naval Architecture preferred. Bachelor’s degree in other construction and engineering field acceptable
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the Marine Industry required
  • Experience in Ship Building, Ship Modernization and/or Ship operations strongly preferred
  • Experience working/managing multiple internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to vendors, consultants and Class Societies.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be familiar with the working drawing process inclusive of drawing, dimensioning and detailing floor plans, elevations, sections and details
  • Ability to understand and interpret architectural plans, sections, elevations, and details.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills absolutely required, as well as the ability to be a strong team player.
  • Working knowledge of Windows NT, Microsoft Word, Excel and familiarity with AutoCAD system. Internet and e-mail literate with ability to send, receive and attach files as required. Must be proactive, organized and have the ability to take initiative, be multi-faceted.
  • Will be required to use and develop project specific software for project development, management and tracking.
  • Preferred Technical Knowledge:
  • Ability to calculate stability related to the addition or subtraction of weight during a dry dock
  • Ability to coordinate Structural, HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing drawings and specification into the  project
  • Intimate knowledge of SOLAS with attention to Evacuation Routes, LSA Counts, Structural Fire Protection and Safety System requirements
  • Ability to manage technical contractor and consultants.
