Position Summary:

The Architect Shipboard Technology is an individual contributor role within the Enterprise Architecture Organization. This role will have a broad array of responsibilities across Infrastructure Architecture, Security Architecture disciplines and enterprise wide initiatives for the Shipboard domain pertaining to Newbuild Infrastructure, Ship Modernization Architecture and Design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Approve, document, review and governance of shipboard infrastructure related to new builds
• Develop processes to define strategic direction for new build infrastructure
• Collaborates with peers to define technical direction for the Newbuild Infrastructure leveraging functional and technical knowledge (SME) in Newbuild subdomain
• Define and document detail level architecture and general design for new and next in class ships
• Responsible to provide functional and technical guidance for all new build infrastructure and ship modernizations (Dry Docks/Revitalizations) projects
• Provide infrastructure budgetary estimations and reviews for each new class of ship, based on the overall scope definition and high-level requirements definition for each class of vessel
• Ensure alignment of enterprise architecture standards during all phases of the respective project
• Develop and maintain project pipelines, reviews and validations across all cross functional teams and departments
• Coordinate and define required satellite systems, including pedestal design and cabling requirements.  Work with respective teams to define requirements for above and below deck equipment (ADE and BDE) inclusive of Pedestal Design, Adapter Plate Design, HVAC coordination, power requirement definition, cable type definition, cable routing requirements, interface requirements, and cable feed from dependent system requirements
• Coordinate and define VOIP and PBX solutions including mounting, placement, and interface requirements
• Coordinate and define data drop terminations and appropriate routing to nearest RDP as it relates to venue planning and newbuild design. Participate in design meetings from concept through finalization of each venue and provide sign-off on IT specifications of each area
• Develop and document technology roadmap of shipboard infrastructure. Provide best practices for maintaining technology maturity within the fleet
• Develop a technical obsolescence replacement strategy for shipboard systems and ensure all installed technology is in a mainstream support pipeline
• Provide guidance on new concepts and strategic initiatives to ensure that enterprise standards are met and documented
• Manage the necessary Monitoring, Control and Automation system integration to the IT infrastructure to allow for the proper interfacing of respective systems. Have a good understanding of edge device technology as well as IoT standards and best practices
• Lead POC’s (Proof of Concept) to prove solution direction in coordination with product and engineering lead around resource capacity and priority
• Contributes to the establishment and use of best practices in IT policies, standards and procedures
• Help forecast technology trends and potential risks in the implementation of defined IT policies, standards and procedures.
