Position Summary:

The qualified candidate will be responsible for sourcing for a variety of projects throughout the fleet within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost to deliver specified requirements and our internal customer’s needs.  The candidate develops a procurement and negotiation strategy that meets our internal customers’ needs as well as our procurement guidelines. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Procure goods and services for assigned projects such as Newbuilds, dry docks, in-service projects, or operational maintenance, etc.
  • Implement a procurement and negotiation strategy based on variables such as price, quality, availability, warranty, project terms and conditions, etc.
  • Performs moderate to complex price analysis while considering total project cost, timing and customer needs. 
  • Single point of contact for internal customer’s base to ensure project needs are met. Ensures that products or services are delivered as needed to ensure successful project completion.  Coordinates with internal customer to finalize project and resolve any guarantee claims.
  • Provides guidance to internal customers during budget preparation such as product and service pricing.
  • Should be aware of compliance requirements of regulatory agencies (DNV, IMO, SOLAS, USPH, US Coast Guard, etc.)
  • Works independently and prioritizes based on projects needs and time lines. Assists other team members when workload warrants.

Financial Responsibilities

  • $50,000 expenditure limit

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field. Emphasis in project management preferred. 
  • 5+ yrs. related experience procuring for medium to large scale projects.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.  Familiarization with Microsoft Project preferred. 
  • Proven analytical and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international.

Physical Demands:

The employee is occasionally required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel. This position may regularly travel domestically or internationally. Visual requirement include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, possibly travel domestic and international, and work in shipboard functions. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
