Senior SQL Programmer, Onboard Revenue in Miami, FL at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Programmer/Developer leads support of the team's Oracle database, Oracle and SQL Server jobs and reporting. Implements solutions to complex multi-department problems and serves as lead conduit with the IT department. Working with management, develops strategies, reports, training and tools to align projects with overall department goals and provide essential customer information to inform better business decisions. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops and implements new solutions to business processes.  This includes requirements gathering, analysis, development, implementation, and testing of advanced database procedures to deliver an efficient product to the business. Also includes reviewing external tools and technologies to implement.
• Drive efficiency improvements and technical improvements to our PL/SQL jobs and systems.
• Communicates with Onboard Revenue leadership on developing the tools, reports, and applications necessary to achieve tactical and strategic objectives 
• Lead technical initiatives, determining user requirements and business needs to develop new reporting, while incorporating understanding of the business and our current systems. Think creatively and holistically to not only meet business objectives, but also to gain additional benefits in job and system enhancements.
• Design and implement complex Oracle PL/SQL procedures and packages against various production databases.  Responsible for the maintenance and documentation of data structures.
• Continuously search for potential business improvements, revenue opportunity and efficiency gains.
• Communicate project direction, approach, and status to all project resources and data team leadership.
• Develop productive working relationships with all business peers and other colleagues within the department and cross-departmentally.
