The Sr Finance Manager is responsible for the financial planning, analysis, review of actual expenditures, governance and reporting of all Information Technology projects. The responsibilities include review of initial and updated budgets, actual expenditures and projections of future spend.  Specifically, budgets include labor hours, rate and mix, as well as goods and services provided by third parties.  Also, the responsibilities include the execution of strong internal controls and governance.


The position is expected to display considerable initiative, independent judgment, and leadership skills in performing financial activities such as planning and forecasting, analysis, project assessments, preliminary cost estimates, determination of capital vs. expense activities and governance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of 5 Sr. Financial Analysts and 4 Analysts
  • Responsible for assisting the business to deliver projects on budget.  The total  IT  Capital budget is estimated at $170M for 2019
  • Prepare and maintain financial plans and forecasts (including spending curves), ensuring all project requirements and objectives are properly documented and budgeted.
  • Prepare financial analysis for each project and report findings on a timely manner, ensuring that risks and issues are reviewed and resolved in collaboration with internal and external constituents.
  • Interact frequently with CAR Managers and IT Leadership to ensure timely and accurate project plans and forecasts.
  • Ensure all aspects of a project comply with Corporate policies and procedures, including proper Capital Project Approvals for new and amended initiatives as well as proper capitalization of expenses.
  • Provide support, guidance and training on the financial aspects of a project.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for Corporate Accounting and Capital Planning as required.
  • Ad-hoc analysis of capital projects, expenditures, and project scope, as required.
  • Audit capital projects for compliance.
  • Responsible for the  development and update of the Capital plan.
  • Develop and implement I.T. financial procedures and standards as needed.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources
  • Identify and implement expense optimization opportunities

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business related major, Finance or Accounting preferred
  • CPA mandatory requirement
  • Minimum 10 years related work experience
  • Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities
  • IT Finance or technology related experience highly preferred
  • Solid understanding of IT estimation activities preferred
  • Proven leadership and management skills
  • Experience with CA PPM (Clarity) application is preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organization, verbal & written communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as good spreadsheet skills.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel, Word, & PowerPoint. 
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Must be able to work under tight timelines, prioritizing responsibilities as needed.
  • Must work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience utilizing project plans, issue logs, risk/mitigation strategies is preferred
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers and management; ability to work with all levels of the organization
  • Clear understanding of capital vs non-capital expenditures
  • Accepts accountability and manages execution
  • Must have ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities to meet organizational goals
