The Program Manager PMO in Shared Services Operations is responsible for driving program management and continuous improvement of strategic supply chain projects for Royal Caribbean Group. Leads all day-to-day activities of various programs and also keeps a birds-eye view of the program operations. Consults with all project stakeholders (internal teams and consultants) to gather, analyze, and report data for recommended courses of action. Proactively strategize, lead, plan, and drive activities of the strategic projects to ensure project completion within prescribed time frame and budget. Function as an in-house process driver and enabler of a highly matrixed environment. 

Projects assigned are typically high priority, high profile, and multi-departmental initiatives for the organization and thus require continuous communication and interaction with the project team and department executives.  Leads all aspects of project planning, tracking, and status reporting. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  1. Responsible for the day-to-day leadership of high impact and strategic projects focused on business services & operations.
  2. Serves as a trusted advisor to department executives, prepares executive communications and provides effective oversight to a portfolio of projects.
  3. Utilizes program management tools and industrial engineering techniques to lead and oversee the maintenance of various programs projects.
  4. Leads the delivery of project management methods through a team
  5. Advises the project team and contractors in shaping scope, preparing milestones, establishing work plans, executing activities and tracking routines. 
  6. Responsible for identifying, developing and implementing process improvements to business critical required to drive agility and value to internal customers
  7. Uses a variety of lean six sigma tools and concepts to derive insights, while working with functional leaders, to implement recommendations and drive change.
  8. Leads in the study of operational needs and current operational performance to identify areas for improvement and efficiency on assigned project.
  9. Acts as the liaison between the consultants and Royal Caribbean team, serving as the single point of contact for collecting and sharing requested information between parties. 
  10. Reviews and organizes the communication of the project plan status on a regular basis to project stakeholders and core team. 
  11. Follow-up with team members to meet project deadlines and provide input on team member activities for schedule review process. 
  12. Oversees the coordination of major activities (kaizens, meetings, workshops, charrettes) to ensure project progresses on schedule and accurately reflects current project status through regular updates of tasks and statuses.
  13. Works with leadership and partners on ongoing major change initiatives such as technology rollouts (contract management systems, bidding repository), new category influence (all indirect, e.g., consulting), major negotiation planning across all categories, tech, F&B
  14. Leads and organizes team in development of ongoing presentations for senior executives. Oversees preparation of project reports related to business services for management, client, or others. 
  15. Remains current with industry trends, especially as related to contemporary project management techniques as they impact project objectives.

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Management, Project Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience, with at least 2 years leading a team. 
  • Preferred: Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Six Sigma certified (ASQ, IASSC), Project Management Professional (PMP) certified or related training.
  • Operations and / or Supply Chain experience is a big plus
  • Cruise Line experience (preferred)
  • Experience using modern Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement methods (LEAN, TPM, 6 Sigma, TQM) highly preferred


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be highly influential, capable of managing multiple competing interests and unify key constituents towards a common goal
  • Must be capable of simplifying complex topics into actionable plans and recommendations to an executive audience
  • Proven leadership experience and skill in leading a small team of professionals.
  • Strong communication skills are critical for this role, and must do so effectively both in writing and in person, at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strength in communicating in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management. 
  • Ability to clarify ambiguous situations and / or processes
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) or other formal process frameworks
  • Strong ability to manage internal colleagues and partners, with competing interests
  • Experience in facilitating Kaizen events and deep dive improvement workshops
  • Excellent organizational and presentation skills.
  • Experience in planning large and complex projects with clear and detailed tasks.
  • Able to steer matrixed and mobile teams that report to various departments.
  • Brings a start-up mentality and has the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, financial and spreadsheet modeling skills.   
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Software: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project required.
  • Internal Candidates:  Knowledge of CAR (Capital Allocation Request) process: budget, approval, reconciliation, and reporting, AMOS, JDE, Smart View and Clarity.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, financial reports, legal documents, and government regulations.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively present information to top management
