Job Description

Position Summary

Manages and coordinates all use of Virtual Reality (VR) technology systems, as integral tools used for architectural and interior design coordination work within Newbuild, revitalization or refurbishment projects. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinates virtual reality work done to support architectural and interior design intent in order to provide executives the transparency they need to make decisions regarding architectural and interior design
  • Prepares strategic planning VR work for each project. Plans how to best support the design needs of the project using VR technologies. 
  • Supports project team in identifying architectural design coordination issues across multiple phases of the design process, and applying best practices
  • Assists in creation of VR simulations through collection of wide range of drawings, model sources, and different types of software programs from various colleagues, to analyze, coordinate and convert into VR simulation tools.
  • Independently handles trouble shooting, consulting team leader as necessary.
  • Sets all design modelling/drafting standards to coordinate with all applicable disciplines.
  • Maintains computer filing system of drawings from shipyard, in-house-design team, outside architects and consultants.
  • Upholds SQM practices throughout all design phases.
  • Stays current in industry trends and innovation through research and market knowledge
  • Creates VR presentations for design management
  • Assists in the implementation of technology upgrades to keep VR rooms up-to-date with advancing technology.
  • Receives guidance and coordination from Sr. Associate and Lead on unusual or complex issues
  • Communicates with each VR partner and apply standard methodologies to each.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Manages 3D systems in range of $3 mil or greater.

Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 
  • Minimum 5 years architectural design and/or building industry experience preferred. Proof of large scale projects.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Must be experienced with Revit, 3DS Max and AutoCAD release 2013 or higher and 3D modeling techniques
  • Bonus skill sets would include: Maya, Cinema, Cheetah3D, Modo, Lightwave, Blender
  • Expertise in Virtual Reality simulation and virtual prototyping.
  • Knowledge gaming tools including UnReal is required
  • Experience in Virtual Reality hardware, setup, and uses.
  • Must be effective communicator with project team (and sponsor when required) exhibiting good capabilities in written, oral, and graphic media. Represents department and self in a competent professional manner
  • Is highly motivated, efficient, and organized. Has fundamental understanding of time management, with priorities being established by supervisor.   Works on multiple projects, and multiple tasks under various team members. Has strong ability to maintain focus
  • Ability to travel internationally or domestically 15% of the time.
  • Knowledge of other computer graphics and immersive hardware
  • Ability to work with external organizations and shipyards of multiple cultures

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
