Position Summary:

The Product Owner is responsible for driving clarity of business requirements on behalf of the client’s category business owners. The Product Owner will also be responsible for facilitating requirements definition sessions associated with User Experience design changes. As such, the Product Owner will work in collaboration with Business Analysts; Use Experience Designers; Technical Architects; UAT; and client business stakeholders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Proficient in executing in the Business Analyst, Product Owner or Epic Owner role for various types of projects and initiatives
  • Elicit, define and analyze medium - complex requirements in various formats ensuring they are testable, measurable and traceable
  • Lead the appropriate teams to refine, prioritize and manage requirements in various tools such as templates, Team Backlogs, Requirements Management or Agile Task Management applications
  • Collaborate with the appropriate teams to build the business case and project justification
  • Lead requirement walk-throughs with key stakeholders using various methods such as team demos, workshops, sprint planning and backlog refinement sessions
  • Identify and estimate work effort based on priority for Planning
  • Define and resolve dependencies, issues and risks along with identification of impacted areas through team collaboration
  • Identify and define business process for current and future state analysis
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills independently and with a team
  • Act as the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams
  • Break down a medium - complex vision into smaller projects, initiatives or features
  • Build subject matter expertise in a business area and/or is experienced in the industry best practices as well as understands different technologies
  • Contributes in strategic roadmap efforts


Job Requirements

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical or business discipline (B.S Math, Industrial Engineering Major in Operations Research, Economics, Information Systems or Information Management)   from an accredited four year college or university and two to four years related experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA preferred
  • At least 3 years in work related job with leading a project
  • Fluent in English (written/verbal) additional language(s) are an advantage
  • Ability to communicate verbally, in writing and through presentations is required to be able to facilitate individuals and groups
  • Strong understanding of General Business Requirements with an eye towards identifying gaps, non-value added steps and other impediments to efficient operation
  • Experience in conceptualization and solution definition
  • Good analytical and problem- solving experience
  • Intermediate knowledge of business analysis methods and tools
  • Able to facilitate buy-in and solution development
  • Ability to process vague abstract verbal and written instructions to create and evaluate process
  • Knowledge or experience in the use of accepted process improvement and lean methodologies
  • Actively works with the stakeholder in order to receive, comprehend and deliver on expected request
  • High level of proven business expertise needed to set clear priorities for product and understand business value impacts
  • Technical proficiency required to participate in sprint planning and have an informed, independent voice
  • Strong influencing skills in order to be seen as the decision maker when interfacing with business, and willingness to dissent with both teams and business
  • Proven experience with agile practices and expectations
  • Comfortable with making decisions with some level of uncertainty
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to identify and interpret stakeholders needs and requirements
  • Ability to work in virtual teams and matrixed organizations
  • Ability to commit and prioritize work duties and tasks
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Ability to share information, transfer knowledge and expertise to team members
  • Ability to develop rapport and credibility with diverse groups
  • Previous cruise line or travel industry experience preferred
  • Self-starter who needs little to no supervision
  • Willing to work in shifting hours (AM shift, Mid Shift)
  • Position may require 10% travel to visit fleet as business needs require
